Annual Rally At Gloucester

Sat 01 October 2011 - Mon 03 October 2011
The rain caught up with us this year and some of the outdoor events had to be held under cover. However it didn't dampen our spirits and members brought a good selection of cars and joined in the fun. Many thanks to Pam Lewis for providing me with an amazing collection of photos - a small sample can be seen here. Thanks also to the organisers for another great weekend.

The motorcycles were part of the museum collection at Nabiac which we visited on the Sunday.

Visit To Inverell

Sat 30 July 2011 - Sun 31 July 2011
Our Northern Get Together was held in Inverell this year and a visit to a private car collection was high on the agenda. The first photo shows a line-up of club cars on Sunday morning. Two of the interesting cars on display was this 1934 Triumph Super 8 saloon and a red TR3 in which one of our canine members loves to go for a spin in the country.

Western Get Together; Railways And Power Stations

Sat 19 February 2011 - Sun 20 February 2011
If you travel west from Sydney, you must cross the Blue Mountains and pass through Lithgow before reaching the western slopes and plains. What better way to appreciate railway engineering skills and the significance of the coal industry than visit the Zig Zag railway and the Mt Piper Power Station. As the name suggests, the Zig Zag used swichbacks and viaducts to allow trains to move up and down the western escarpment. It was replaced on the main western line by a series of tunnels in 1910 and today the line is run as a tourist attraction by the Zig Zag Railway Co-op Ltd.

Motorfest 2011

Wed 26 January 2011 - Wed 26 January 2011
Another successful display at the NRMA Motorfest; part of Sydney's Australia Day celebrations on the 26th January.

This year we had six cars on display in College St, between Hyde Park and St Mary's Cathedral. Another special attraction was a display of the famous Terracotta Warriors from China at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The two veteran Talbots were also spotted at Motorfest. Why the Talbots on a Standard website? Apart from being beautiful examples of their marque, Talbots have a relationship with Standard cars in Australia. Though there was no connection between the two companies in England, they were often sold by the same agents in Australia. The white Talbot was sold by I. Phizackerley in 1911 from his showrooms just a short distance across Hyde Park in Elizabeth St. At the same time he was also selling Standards from the same location, but unfortunately none of those veteran Standards appear to have survived?
