Annual Rally At Gulgong

Sat 20 October 2012 - Mon 22 October 2012
Apologies to those who have been waiting patiently for further updates of club activities. Yes, in 2012 the Triumphs outnumbered the Standards but there was a good mix of models on display. Apart from being a great backdrop for older cars, Gulgong is well worth a visit. Henry Lawson came from the district and the town featured on the original Australian ten dollar note.

Naturally we stayed at the Ten Dollar Town Motel and visited the Pioneers Museum.

Two Triumph Super Sevens were seen at the rally - note the unusual coachwork on the roadster. Some ladies find these small Triumphs irresistible and I found it difficult not to photograph the impressive front view of the post war roadster. The Cobb & Co coach from the museum speaks for itself. Thanks to the all those who made this weekend such a success.

Get Together At Terrigal

Sat 11 August 2012 - Sun 12 August 2012
It was a wet weekend but this did not dampen the spirits of those who attended. It was the first outing for our new club banner and windscreen covers.

Southern Get Together At Bundanoon

Sat 23 June 2012 - Sun 24 June 2012
Highlight of this year's event was a visit to Trainworks at Thirlmere. The rail museum has been transformed by a multi-million dollar upgrade over recent years and most of the exhibits are now undercover. We also had a visit from Bill Chapple who brought along his 1927 14/28 Standard tourer. The car has been in the same family since new and carries its original registration, which may well be a record for a vehicle of this age?

Tassie Tour 2012, 6-16 May

Sun 06 May 2012 - Wed 16 May 2012
The first major tour by the STCC was the VDAT trip to Queensland in 2008 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Vanguard. It was so successful that the 2010 Tour to the Riverina was organised and bi-annual tours have become even more popular. This year it was Tasmania and 32 club members brought 15 Standards and Triumphs to join in the fun. The photos tell the story.

Rally At Binalong

Sat 31 March 2012 - Sun 01 April 2012
The setting for our western gathering this year was the small picturesque town of Binalong. One of the highlights was a visit to the local motor museum with its unusual collection of exhibits. The first photo is not part of the collection, but a 1935 Standard 9 belonging to Ron Fazzari. This is a good example of Flood saloon bodywork and was the first outing for the car since it was recently club registered.

The second photo shows a chain driven MAB which was fitted with a V12 aircraft engine. It was partially dismantled after a recent overhaul. The Honda CB350 brought back memories - I owned a 250 version in the same colour back in the early 70s. In the background is a Ducati 750 v-twin and a small motorised sports car.

South West Rocks 2012

Sat 25 February 2012 - Sun 26 February 2012
The ruins of the prison at Trial Bay and the Smokey Cape Lighthouse were two of the scenic attractions that we visited at the Northern Get Together this year. Not forgetting the cars, there were 20 club vehicles to choose from. They made an impressive display and contributed to another good outing from our northern team. Thanks to Wendy, Michael, John and Leonie.

Motorfest 2012

Thu 26 January 2012 - Thu 26 January 2012
Sydney had been experiencing one of the wettest summers on record, so the number of cars attending this year was down a little. The club members who decided to push on were rewarded with a well organised event and the usual large crowds who came to admire the cars. It even stopped raining for a while.
