Central Region Christmas Picnic Day

Sat 06 December 2014 - Sat 06 December 2014
Extract: Narelle Price
It was an over-cast cooler start to the day as Royden and I set off from Tanilba Bay in our Phase III Vanguard Estate to rendezvous at Morisset for 9.00 am and to be on the road for 9.15 am, en-route to Davistown. At the noted timely departure, the small convoy set off and rounded up Judi and Steve Wills (Modern) at Doyalson.

We continued a pleasant, scenic run to Davistown via Budgewoi, The Entrance, picking up The Central Coast Highway, through Long Jetty, Bateau Bay and gathered up Sue and Bill Dobson in their Red Stag, then on via Forresters Beach, Womberal (or Wombie to the locals), Erina and turning onto Avoca Drive, by Green Point and arrived at Davistown.

Again, at the appointed time we embarked on the Codock II for the wonderful journey around the Channels towards Ettalong and the Gosford Broadwater. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable time to meet and greet.

Northern Region Picnic Day At Glen Innes

Sat 29 November 2014 - Sat 29 November 2014
Extract: Lyn Molenaar
The picnic day was to be held at the Standing Stones at Glen Innes only about 4 hours drive from home so we thought we might take a few extra days and make a relaxing break away.

We left on the Thursday morning and had an uneventful drive through countryside that became greener the further south we travelled. We arrived at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon and after settling in, took a stroll down to the Information Centre and gathered some leaflets about the town and surrounds. We then walked through the main street taking in the many historical buildings, the most impressive of which was the Town Hall. We thought we might have dinner at the RSL but a school dance was being held next to the dining area so we left soon after our meal as the music was a little loud!

Eleventh Annual Rally At Goulburn

Sat 25 October 2014 - Mon 27 October 2014
Extract: Margaret Bensley
With the weather in perfect harmony everyone was arriving at various intervals and placed in an arc for the official photo taken by no other than our resident photographer – Pam, and a few others with cameras. Once out of the car everyone signed in and collected their club ‘goodies’ bag and then went and shared a lovely cuppa under the spreading shade of the Riversdale Homestead leafy trees.

Sunday began with a rally call to the car park of the motel. People arrived either before or on time due to the threat of Alan’s whistle. (Thankfully it was only needed once) We were also warned about the CWA ladies who were known to turn nasty if we were late for lunch. Our first scheduled event was to be a drive to Pejar Dam (morning tea) and then onto Crookwell (Sock Factory, Redback Saddlery).

Extract: Jenny Shepherd
Monday started with a photo shoot for the 6 cars which had attended both Goulburn rallies. Then we visited the courthouse. Since Goulburn was the largest town in the district, this court house built in 1881 was both local and district courts as well as the supreme court. Designed by respected Government Architect James Barnet, it is one of the most spectacular court houses in New South Wales.

Darling Downs Tour

Sun 18 May 2014 - Sun 25 May 2014
Twenty-five members in twelve club cars set off from Caboolture Queensland on our 2014 Long Tour of the Darling Downs. Those of us who had been on previous tours had some idea of the camaraderie that is a feature of these events. We were not dissappointed and those members who had not been on previous tours soon joined in.

First Queensland Get Together - Bribie Island Queensland

Sat 17 May 2014 - Sun 18 May 2014
The first Queensland get together was held on Bribie Island. Bribi Island Marine Park is home to dugongs, dolphins, turtles, jabiru and up to 360 species of birds.

We had a great weekend with visits to the seaside and Abbey Museum and a relaxing Ferryman cruise to explore the marine park and take in the views of the majestic Glass House Mountains.

Southern Region Get-together, Queanbeyan - Issue #103 March 2014

Sat 15 February 2014 - Sun 16 February 2014
Extract: The Shepherd family
We met at the Golden Age Motel for morning tea, and were very pleased that Ray and Colleen had predicted the wet weather and arranged everything indoors. After a very nice lunch of open sandwiches we set off for Old Parliament House. Most of us were happy to follow the leaders in convoy, which was fine until someone decided to shake off the followers by driving the wrong way up a one way street. The followers, now lost, circled wildly but eventually we all ended up at our destination.

Carnivale Australia Day Celebrations - Issue #103 March 2014

Sun 26 January 2014 - Sun 26 January 2014
Extract: Story by Malcolm Gow
Every year there is a Motorfest Sydney City that is now called CARnivale, which is a bad pun but a fun day. I got my sticker and invitation letter before Christmas so Michelle did not need to give me anything else. We were lucky again with an 8:10 am arrival time at the Domain car park.

There were a lot of people passing by the cars. I think the cooler weather had a lot to do with this. Not exactly a beach day. The day is spent talking to each other and the many interested passers-by who remember having one of our cars or their father and this year ever a grandfather. Members Henry Black and Joyce visited us and admired the cars.

Attendees were:
Alan & Sue McMillan – 1961 Vanguard Estate
Vic & Pam Lewis – Phase 2 Vanguard Sedan (the Frog)
Steve & Judi Wills – Spitfire Mk.3
John Graham & Lesley - Vanguard Sportsman
Malcolm Gow – 1963 Vanguard Ute.
